In this section we got a chance to analyze other designer’s recent show. In my case I chose Noir Kei Ninoyama because the garments looked very interesting at first. By asking all the questions that were in the guidelines, I started to notice how there are lots of elements to take a careful look at not just the garment itself. Especially it was new for me to think about the garments separately. By extracting pieces out of the whole garment I was able to find details that I didn’t find when I was just looking at the whole thing. Also constantly looking at the same show made me observe elements of the show itself such as the lightings of the room or color of the back ground.
During our second section I got to use artworks from Shoreditch to collaborate that to Ninoyama’s work. At first it was pretty difficult to find common factors between the two elements but then after all I decided to chose a piece that were more sculptural like Ninoyama’s work. I decided to choose a little sculpture of a broccoli which I thought it had similarities with Ninoyama’s designs. From this class I’ve got a little sense on how to analyze other people’s work. By practicing this I thought it will give ability to organize my work better and clearer because it gives me opportunity to think my work in other people’s view. For example thinking as ” Why did I put certain elements in that specific part of the garment?”. Although I found difficult to name all the materials used in the garments so definitely need improvements on knowing different kinds of fabrics.
