TOOLBOX 8 PPD

In todays session I had a chance to develop illustration for the final product. It gave me opportunity to use different tools to create that explains the product most efficiently. I experimented using pencils and water soluble color pencil at first to see how that expresses and shows my designs. It came out to conclude lots of details but lacked in showing the material of the jacket clearly. Secondly I started to use bold lines and more drastic colors to express my dress. It made the whole shape more clearer. The smeared water color gave rough impression to the design and it became more conceptual than the previous design. Also the use of pen gave the right impression that I’ve expected when I was adding the design inspired from Shoreditch. The last design was based from collage. I decided to divide the jacket in each section and cut down to shapes. As a result it highlighted the collar part well as the flower design inspired from one of sword in the V&A.

Overall this section taught me how to develop all the conceptual rough sketches into more realistic and understandable way. The most challenging part was to think which material will express the design as close to the 2D design. There were lots of elements I have to think in order to actually make it. For example how am I going to give volume in certain sections without using hard objects which will make it further from being comfortable. Using hard pieces will make it easier for me to express my art better but thinking of the market that I’m targeting, it won’t be a nice choice for the customer when they actually wear it in daily lives.
