TOOLBOX Kensington outing

The first impression of the V&A museum was amazing because it was huge but also had so many interesting displays and art pieces. Finding connection between art works was not as difficult as I expected. I decided to concentrate in weaponries especially swords in Asian countries. Starting from Middle Asia I was able to collect some photos of swords with different shapes and purpose. I ended up at Japanese swords and was satisfied with the pieces that I chose. I was interested and surprised that all the pieces were swords but all of them had such different patterns and shape. I’ve noticed how sketching the art work is important because I was able to find small details and elements that I would have missed if I didn’t take a close look to draw. Especially the flower patterns that were on the daggers really inspired me and caught my attention.

Visiting Harrods was one of the most exciting activity that I remember. The reason is because before I came to London I’ve always heard about Harrods. The interiors and the layouts of the stores differed to department stores in South Korea. The lightings were pretty dark and I almost felt like walking in a hotel. Looking at the stores it was interesting that there were names of the designers in front of every stores. This part unified the whole stores that it’s in Harrods. I was able to find many people who were wearing cool and interesting garments as well. The street styles of people differed from Shepherd’s Bush especially I was able to find people wearing more formal clothings. It was interesting to find out depending on the location, the style of the people will get effected.
